Coco Coir Brick 5kg
Coco Coir Brick 5kg
Product Description
Discover the ultimate sustainable growing medium with EcoGrowMedia's Premium Coco Coir Brick 5kg, the eco-friendly powerhouse that transforms your gardening experience. This compressed coconut husk fiber represents the perfect alternative to environmentally harmful peat moss, offering superior performance while protecting precious peatland ecosystems. Each 5kg brick expands to an impressive 70-75 liters of premium growing medium when hydrated, providing exceptional value for large-scale gardening projects, commercial growers, and serious gardening enthusiasts. The natural fiber structure creates optimal conditions for vigorous root development, combining excellent water retention with superior drainage and aeration. Completely renewable and sustainably sourced, this professional-grade coco coir delivers consistent results for everything from seed starting to large container gardens and soil amendment projects.
The EcoGrow Difference: Most cheap coco coir contains high salt levels from processing, causing nutrient lockout and burnt roots. Our triple-washing process reduces electrical conductivity (EC) to below 0.5 mS/cm—safe for even sensitive seedlings without additional buffering.
Who It's For: Greenhouse growers, allotment users, hydroponic gardeners, container enthusiasts, or anyone needing bulk growing medium. One brick fills 15-20 standard 25cm pots or a 1.5m × 1m raised bed (20cm deep).
How to Use
Step 1: Container Selection Choose a large container, wheelbarrow, or mixing tub capable of holding 70-75 liters of expanded material. Ensure adequate space for mixing and handling.
Step 2: Hydration Process Place the 5kg brick in your container and add 20-25 liters of warm water gradually. The brick will begin expanding upon contact with water.
Step 3: Expansion and Breaking Allow 20-30 minutes for complete water absorption. Break apart the expanding brick with your hands or a garden fork to accelerate the process and ensure uniform hydration.
Step 4: Texture Development Continue fluffing and mixing until you achieve a consistent, soil-like texture throughout. The final product should be moist but not waterlogged.
Step 5: Drainage Check If excess water remains, allow it to drain naturally or transfer the coco coir to a mesh container for drainage. The ideal moisture content should feel like a wrung-out sponge.
Step 6: Application Use immediately as a standalone growing medium, blend with perlite for enhanced drainage, or incorporate into existing soil mixes for improved structure and water retention.
Benefits
Exceptional Water Management: Holds up to 8-10 times its weight in water while maintaining excellent drainage, reducing watering frequency and preventing both drought stress and waterlogging conditions.
Superior Root Development: The fibrous structure creates an ideal environment for root growth, providing optimal aeration and preventing root binding commonly associated with traditional potting soils.
Environmentally Sustainable: Made from renewable coconut waste, this product helps preserve vital peatland ecosystems while providing superior growing performance compared to peat-based alternatives.
pH Stability: Maintains a neutral pH range of 6.0-6.8, providing optimal nutrient availability for most plants without requiring pH adjustments or buffering agents.
Pest and Disease Resistance: Naturally resistant to common soil-borne pathogens and pests, creating a healthier growing environment that reduces the need for chemical treatments.
Long-Term Value: Can be reused multiple times with proper care, making it an economical choice for ongoing gardening projects and commercial applications.
